Nice home with access to great clubhouse
Paul L. - January 2019
This is a beautiful home in a private neighborhood about 30 minute drive from ski mountains. The kitchen is large and we had enough room for our party of 10. There is a very nice clubhouse on the property that has pool table, ping pong table and movie room. It is a great spot if you are bringing kids like us...they had a blast hanging out there. We would have given this property 4 out of 5 stars however gave it at 3 out of 5 because property was not ready at check in time (only one person cleaning it which was not enough considering they had other people checking out same day), kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/utensils however nothing beyond salt and pepper shaker...not even paper towels. Other homes we rented of similar price have at least some bare essentials. Also no additional covers/blankets for beds. Lastly, no wood for the fire...not even a few pieces. I would expect "bare-minimum" in a less expensive property however owner/management company could spend little more money and make a big difference especially to the check in day for new guests...town is too far away with a late check in to get something as basic as cooking spray... Hopefully they will take note...
Still a great spot for family's and the property is allot of fun to explore.
The property is beautiful views are starting

We enjoyed our Christmas there the house is beautiful five-star accommodations and the leasing staff were expert I highly recommend this properly thank you
Beautiful views, nice house with a few changes/additions needed
Joy V. - June 2018
This is a beautiful house in a wonderful location. The community is amazing. Especially the clubhouse at sunset. Such a wonderful expierence to see the sunset there. We enjoyed fishing in the ponds and hanging out at the pavillion. The kids loved the tree houses. The house itself is a good size. Lots of room for our two families. We didnt even use the part above the garage. There were some minor housekeeping issues but they were resolved and Joanie with the rental company was excellant to work with. A few things about this house could make it five stars for us. First it's an AMAZING VIEW. But no rocking chairs or comfortable seating to enjoy it. Just a patio set in one corner of the deck. Two, you get one towel and one wash cloth per guest. I have never been limited in any rental I've stayed in. Most guests, especially women, will use two towels. One for body. One for hair. Yes, there is a washer and dryer but who wants to do laundry on vacation to have clean towels and linens? Would like to see more towels. This is just an fyi but we were limited to 5 bags of trash. Otherwise you are charged a fee. With zero recycling available that bulked up quick. So be aware of this and maybe take your recyclables into town. Town isn't far. Maybe 15 to 20 mins. Lots of great restaurants and a couple grocery stores to choose from. Lastly and we didn't care about this because it was summer and we spent a lot of time outside but there is only one TV in the whole house. None in the bedrooms. So if this is important to you keep it in mind. We would like to see more tvs especially if we came in the winter months. Those small changes would be great. If they aren't made though we would still come back. (Just more prepared) It was a wonderful stay in a beautiful mountain setting. Thanks again to Joanie for staying in touch with us!
amazing view/ gorgeous home in an awesome community
Chris C. - October 2017
We had a great stay! The house is beautiful. Clean, well decorated, quality beds/ couches, gourmet kitchen, and an amazing view that you won't get tired staring at.
The company managing it was very helpful and thorough as well.
The neighborhood amenities were some of the best aspects of this rental. Their clubhouse is beautiful, there is a portable basketball hoop, nice workout gym, and stocked game room (ping pong, pool table, etc). Even better than the clubhouse is the lake (well stocked with small fish that bite often) and nearby park with some fun treehouses (good place to take pics).
The only thing the property lacks is a flat/ grassy backyard to play in. Also, like most houses with a great view, it is a bit of winding trek up somewhat narrow roads to get there from downtown Banner Elk (about 15-20 minutes away).

The house was well provisioned, the view was great and the weather was outstanding! Sunny and 70's-low 80's most of the weekend? The house is convenient and well laid out. The Management company was helpful and responsive!

The soaring lodge truly had soaring views! Just a beautiful setting and views of mountains. We had 8 people and there was plenty of room. Large kitchen and the appliances were all in great shape. Washer and dryer great too. Large living room and back porch and table. We ate outside all the time. The bathrooms were large and well appointed. Great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The reason I can't give it a 5 is because of the beds and pillows. Two of the beds were good, but the rest were just so uncomfortable. Also the sheets were very pilled. Improve the sleeping conditions and this property is off the charts!
Fantastic Winter Vacation

My family and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay! When we arrived that night the house was all set. After driving 14 hours to get there, it was great to see that everything was ready. The lights were on, the heat was on, and everything was clean and ready for us. The house had everything that we've needed to enjoy a great family vacation. There were plenty of cooking materials, lots of wood for the fireplace, and comfort throughout the house . Joanie was so helpful. She answered my calls whenever had questions regarding the house or the area and always responded right away. The house is beautiful, exactly like the photos. We were there for the first snow of the season , and everyone had a wonderful time. There was so much to do in the area. We were very close to Beech Mountain where we enjoyed skiing, ice skating and all of the family have a great time hiking locally. Would definitely advise people to have a four wheel or all-wheel-drive car if they're coming during the winter snow. . Will definitely rent again if we're back in the area! I recently had a girls weekend at Soaring Eagle Lodge and from the moment we decided on this home through the final morning of our trip we had a wonderful experience! Joanie, the rental coordinator, helped us plan our weekend and ensure it was amazing, complete with a private chef who prepared a six course dinner for us! The views from every angle of the house are simply stunning. The home is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. I'd recommend this home for families or groups - the space really is versatile. We didn't explore in the community, but did enjoy tasting wines at Banner Elk Winery. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer, we had a very difficult time leaving Sunday morning! I'd love the opportunity to stay in this home again one day!

Beautiful Mountain Escape

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is immaculate and comfortable with a gorgeous view. We hiked the trails around the nearby lake and had coffee on the dock. Our son loved the suspension bridge and treehouse. We will definitely come back!

Our week at Soaring Eagle exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a spot that was both serene and fun so that we could both relax and keep fit and enjoy ourselves. This place was the most amazing spot for both. First of all, the mountain home itself is extremely spacious, very modern (obviously built in the past few years), and the view is panoramic and just as breathtaking as advertised. The kids were occupied the whole time - exploring, doing games in the clubhouse, playing in an amazing kids' forest adventure park just up the road. And we had some fantastic family hikes - one that we drove a short distance to, but most that started right from the front door and led to a really cool pond where we just went "zen" while the kids played. We took them fishing a couple mornings at this same pond. And because the lodge is so spacious (a whole separate wing, which the kids were thrilled with, as were Mom and Dad!) we could relax and have a drink watching the mountains, while barely hearing them horse around. One thing to be aware of, you want to plan your food shopping since although the nearest grocery store is close (about 15mins) it's not close enough if you need something at the last minute. A great break and we're going to book a second week next year because all five of us had an amazing time - just what our family (and the two of us) needed to get recharged!

Start to finish an amazing weekend stay at Soaring Eagle Lodge. The views, spacious main living space, and private bedrooms were perfect for a weekend of entertaining clients. I hosted a weekend getaway for some business clients of mine. We grilled steaks on the deck the first night and took in the amazing views. Played a few rounds of golf at a nearby public course the next day, and wrapped it all up with race day passes to the Nascar race in Bristol, TN. This place is all its said to be and more. Can't wait to go back.
Replacing The Heat Of The City With Cool Mountain Air
Richard B - August 2015
My wife and I and another couple were in the Charlotte area for a conference. We decided to treat ourselves to a weekend of luxury in the mountains. It was amazing the contrast of the hot humid air in the low lands compared to the cool refreshing mountain air. It was perfect for hiking on the trails in the community as well as for longer walks at nearby State parks. We had the presence of mind to pack our tennis rackets and enjoyed the spectacular scenery that surrounded us while we played right inside the community where this home is located. My wife who is very accomplished in the kitchen was able to prepare wonderful meals in the gourmet kitchen and the outdoor grill from the groceries we bought locally. Both nights we ate outdoors on the deck and were treated to breathtaking sunsets. Despite being two couples it was still a very romantic atmosphere with the spacious lodge that has a large separate room adjacent to the kitchen. For those of us in our quartet that have difficulty sitting still they were able to find an outlet in the exercise room of the clubhouse while the more relaxed part of our contingent took in a movie in the clubhouse theater.

The Soaring Eagle Lodge is the perfect getaway for families seeking adventure, activity, or relaxation. With a variety of amenities you will never lack for things to do! The kids enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and hiking at the resort during the days and took full advantage of the clubhouse movie theatre in the evenings. We all enjoyed watching the sunset on the fabulous deck with panoramic views of the mountains and cozying up to the fireplace at night after a long soak in the jet tub. The lodge is stunning with a gourmet kitchen, and spacious accommodation. We can’t wait to come back again in the winter and take advantage of the local skiing. We would definitely recommend the Soaring Eagle Lodge as the ideal vacation destination!

Fun for the whole family!
Kirsten - July 2015
My family’s stay at the Soaring Eagle Lodge was wonderful! We stayed for almost a week and there was always something fun to do. Some days we stayed in the neighborhood, which has tennis courts, a lake for fishing and canoeing, a fire-pit for s’mores, a couple of beautiful hiking trails, and an awesome clubhouse. The kids LOVED the movie theater there and it was nice that there was a kitchen nearby for making snacks. We also spent quite a bit of time in some of the nearby towns, which were full of unique restaurants and activities. We had a great day of tubing on the river, the kids spent one whole afternoon gem mining, and we even toured a local alpaca farm. I was very impressed by how friendly and kind the locals were. The cabin was the perfect size for our family. There was more than enough space for everyone to spread out, but the floorplan was open enough for us to feel connected all week. As a cook, I was elated when I saw the kitchen. It is spacious and open to the rest of the house and it’s stocked with high-end appliances. I would’ve loved to have spent the whole week just cooking in there! All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were meticulously cleaned and they are very large. It’s great that the kid’s rooms are upstairs, so it’s more comfortable for adults to spend extra time together while the kids are sleeping—enjoying the living room fireplace and the jet tub in the master suite at night or having a cup of coffee on the porch early in the morning. The air is crisp and there is a great view of trees and the open sky. It has been a while since I’ve seen the stars and moon so clearly. This trip was just what we needed. Everyone left feeling happy and recharged. I definitely intend to spend more time at this cabin in the future! July 4th Family Get-Away
Lucky Canucky - July 2015
Spent a relaxing July 4th weekend along with another family (4 adults, 5 kids) at this lodge. Just as beautiful as the photos. Its really more of “an upscale chalet-feel” than just a lodge and roomy enough for two families to enjoy with space for the kids to spread-out. Big, open-concept kitchen made preparing and serving meals easy. Property is well maintained and equipped both inside and out with beautiful views of the mountains. Easy drive from Charlotte with enough things to do on-site at Headwaters that we didn’t end up touring around Banner Elk like we planned. Lots to do with the kids within walking distance but bring comfortable walking shoes to get around the hilly roads. We hiked around to the different parks, waterfall and to the Clubhouse for movies and the game room. Would definitely go back and perhaps plan a girls-weekend trip next time around.

Awesome Getaway...Great Mountain Retreat...Everything In One Location
John H -
Had a great time at the Soaring Eagle Lodge, a couple hours north of Charlotte. A relaxing and hassle-free getaway. The lodge is really nice with a rustic feel. Spacious and really relaxing. Love the views and huge decks, inside finishes, high end kitchen, fireplace, jet tub, garage, and covered parking. Lots of things to do all on site... going to the lake, fishing, canoeing, tennis court, hiking trails, clubhouse with fitness center, movie theatre and gourmet kitchen, panoramic views. There is also Deer Creek Park with campsites, tree houses and a suspension bridge. The site is close to skiing, tubing, hiking, rafting, camping, Zip lining, mountain biking. I highly recommended the lodge for families, adventurers, and those that just want to a break from crazy world. An all in one spot.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.
